Pellitory roots, also known as Anacyclus pyrethrum or Spanish chamomile, are believed to have originated from Arab because ancient Indian texts like Charak, Sushrut, and Vagbhatt do not mention them, suggesting that Unani Hakims (herbal doctors) might have introduced them to India. Today, pellitory root is considered a popular herb in both India and Arab and is cultivated in some regions of India. The small shoots of the plant emerge with the onset of the rainy season.
